چکیده

Artefacts are noises introduced to the electroencephalogram’s (EEG) signal by not central nervous system (CNS) sources of electric fields inside and outside subject’s body. The artefacts impede the analysis of the signal and should be handled properly. The most common and characteristic kind of artefacts is the electrooculographic (EOG) ones, especially subject’s eye-blinking artefacts. In this paper an analysis of the power spectrum of eye-blinking artefacts is described with a connection of using the EEG for braincomputer interface (BCI), working with αand μ-rhythm (range 8-13 Hz) brain potentials.

Ocular Artifacts Removal from EEG Using EMD

Electroencephalogram (EEG) provides a non-invasive way to analyze brain activity. Blinking and movement of the eyes causes a strong electrical activity that can contaminate EEG recordings, particularly around the forehead but also as far as in occipital areas. Removal of such ocular artifacts is a considerable signal processing problem, since those artifacts overlap in frequency domain with EEG...

Effects of signal artefacts on electroencephalography spectral power during sleep: quantifying the effectiveness of automated artefact-rejection algorithms.

Electroencephalography (EEG) recordings during sleep are often contaminated by muscle and ocular artefacts, which can affect the results of spectral power analyses significantly. However, the extent to which these artefacts affect EEG spectral power across different sleep states has not been quantified explicitly. Consequently, the effectiveness of automated artefact-rejection algorithms in min...

A Certain Exploration on EEG Signal for the Removal of Artefacts using Power Spectral Density Analysis through Haar wavelet Transform

Electroencephalogram is the method of recording the electrical activity of the brain via sensors (electrodes) placed on the surface of the scalp. EEGs, which are of the order of microvolt, have greater potential for the diagnosis and treatment of mental and brain diseases and abnormalities. However, EEG signals are subject to various kinds of contaminants (i. e) artifacts which arise from human...

Blinking Artefact Recognition in EEG Signal Using Artificial Neural Network

Artefacts are noises introduced to an EEG signal by patient’s movements and sources of electric field outside the patient’s body. The artefacts impede a doctor’s expertise and an automatic analysis of the signal. The most common and characteristic kind of artefacts are blinking artefacts. This paper presents a neural based approach to finding artefacts in the signal. The inputs to the network a...

An Experimental Study on Blinking and Eye Movement Detection via EEG Signals for Human-Robot Interaction Purposes Based on a Spherical 2-DOF Parallel Robot

Blinking and eye movement are one of the most important abilities that most people have, even people with spinal cord problem. By using this ability these people could handle some of their activities such as moving their wheelchair without the help of others. One of the most important fields in Human-Robot Interaction is the development of artificial limbs working with brain signals. The purpos...
